Narrativa

In an interview in September 2022, Ms. Divina do Espírito Santo, 94, recalled important aspects of the history of the manor. Originally, in this locality, there were two ranches for the drovers to land, which were made entirely of stones, without the internal divisions. One facing the other. The one at the confluence of Antônio Pimenta and Antônio de Paula alleys, which no longer exists, except for the remaining foundations, and this one at the confluence of Great Fountain and Rosalino alleys.

José Gomes de Moura Lima, Zeca de Moura, born in São Gonçalo do Bação on June 10, 1857, married Maria Carolina de Oliveira Quites, raised a family and died in this mansion. He died in 1915. Maria de Moura Lima, second among the couple’s 13 children, married Benjamim Gonçalves Pimenta, a merchant in São Gonçalo do Bação. They had 17 children, Lady Divina being the youngest. Maria de Moura Lima died in 1946 and Benjamim Gonçalves Pimenta died in 1976. Lady Divina, the youngest, remains in the manor house and tells us that all the generations that have lived in this property have had and still have the commitment to take care of its conservation and to be guardians of the its story.
