Dô Expedito Bar

Dô Expedito Bar is a centenary establishment, a community meeting point for generations. Those who arrive on Rua das Pimentas to find Largo da Matriz can see the doors of the bar and its regulars and visitors, even before seeing the Church of São Gonçalo do Bação.

Renovated in 2022, the bar was owned by José Anacleto and Maria Aleixa, who passed it on to Vitália and her husband, João do Munho.
With the death of Vitália, Maria das Dores, the famous Dô, became responsible for the bar, until her marriage in 1970, when Expedito started to manage it. He is the one still behind the counter today, every day, regularly, at the age of 86. He relies on the help of his daughter, Daniela Pimenta, his son-in-law and, less frequently, his granddaughters.

Daniela keeps the pastry tradition alive. In the past, the famous pastel da Dô made its customers organize queues, even early in the morning, to try the delicacy even at breakfast. Today, the bar offers other snacks and even the very traditional Expedito crackling, as well as ice cold beer, accompanied by a family service, full of affection.
