Areal street fountain
Fountain made by the artist José Vitor, using bricks, stones and mortar in its construction. It is part of the set of fountains built in Bação on the occasion of a water distribution project at the beginning of the 20th century on the initiative of the mayor Costa Sena. Adjacent to the stone wall of the old “house of the pyrotechnicians”. It consists of a bowl with a rectangular projection and a wall, where the faucet comes out, with a curved top finish.
It adopts a different parti from the others built by José Vitor, being the only one with the design solution found in it.
On the other side of the street, next to Cruzeiro, there is another fountain by José Vitor.
Narrativa
“Areal Street was formerly called Arraial… from talking so much about Arraial, it ended up becoming Areal… But this is the origin of the place. The Fountain there is also a work of art by José Vitor!”
