Fountain built by plastic artist José Vitor, who used bricks and mortar in his beautiful work. José Vitor’s fountains were made in the context of distribution of water captured in Serra do Lessa (mountain range) and distribution in the central area of São Gonçalo de Bação. These are fountains builf of iron and bricks, stones and mortar made by him. After the water was piped into the houses, the fountains became relics in the streets and memories of São Gonçalo do Bação.

It was intended to supply and distribute water in São Gonçalo do Bação at the beginning of the 20th century, before the phase of piping water to all residences. It is part of the set of fountains built by José Vitor, with a similar design to the fountain on Areal street (Arraial). Located on the public sidewalk next to the front wall in block masonry, on one of the busiest streets in the historic center, it has a rectangular projection base in a masonry structure covered with smooth plaster, with a small basin in low relief and a drainage channel at the top of this block. A pillar aligned with the back panel configures the support (outlet) for the faucet, which receives a diamond-shaped embossed finish. The top finish is made by an element in the form of a small dome with decorative friezes, more simplified than the fountain at Areal (Arraial). It is 1.61m tall.

According to Ms. Divina, 94 years old, resident of the Moura Lima Manor, the fountains were installed by Mayor Costa Sena in the main streets of São Gonçalo do Bação.

Some fountains no longer exist, others have been changed places. Thus, there were iron and clay fountains (in this case, those made by the artist José Vitor). José Vitor was an important artist and musician in Bação. Each fountain has a model, not equal to each other, true works of art.
