Fountain built by plastic artist Jos\u00e9 Vitor, who used bricks and mortar in his beautiful work. Jos\u00e9 Vitor’s fountains were made in the context of distribution of water captured in Serra do Lessa (mountain range) and distribution in the central area of S\u00e3o Gon\u00e7alo de Ba\u00e7\u00e3o. These are fountains builf of iron and bricks, stones and mortar made by him. After the water was piped into the houses, the fountains became relics in the streets and memories of S\u00e3o Gon\u00e7alo do Ba\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
It was intended to supply and distribute water in S\u00e3o Gon\u00e7alo do Ba\u00e7\u00e3o at the beginning of the 20th century, before the phase of piping water to all residences. It is part of the set of fountains built by Jos\u00e9 Vitor, with a similar design to the fountain on Areal street (Arraial). Located on the public sidewalk next to the front wall in block masonry, on one of the busiest streets in the historic center, it has a rectangular projection base in a masonry structure covered with smooth plaster, with a small basin in low relief and a drainage channel at the top of this block. A pillar aligned with the back panel configures the support (outlet) for the faucet, which receives a diamond-shaped embossed finish. The top finish is made by an element in the form of a small dome with decorative friezes, more simplified than the fountain at Areal (Arraial).
